C. A. McCombs was very little when her own dad had to travel and she missed him tremendously. On hearing that her brother was going to be traveling for a year, she wrote Daddy's Going Away so they wouldn't experience the emotional pain which she had.

Her niece and nephews loved it! The concept of "Heart-Kisses" truly made a difference and helped them feel connected to their daddy while he was away. At their urging, she decided to publish this story, hoping that it will help other children feel that special connection to their dads.

Carolyn McCombs lives in Virginia with her husband, Jim, where they share lots of Heart-Kisses with their four children and their yellow lab, "Champ".
